Tom Sturgess

Tom has owned and operated multiple global enterprises within a diverse set of industries. He is an experienced investor and advisor, bringing decades of institutional investment experience and multiple board appointments for prestigious private equity funds.

After serving in the Marine Corps, Tom began his professional career with Ernst & Young, before transitioning to a VP role with Valley View Capital Corporation, a private equity fund. In the following decade, Tom served as Chairman, President, and/or CEO for food distribution, office product wholesale, and manufacturing businesses totaling $8.7B in revenues.

During this time, Tom became the Co-Founding GP of Wingate Partners (1987-96), a $450MM private equity fund rated by Buyouts magazine as the top-performing fund for nearly two decades. He has previously served on boards of Goldman Sachs PE funds, a New Zealand philanthropic foundation, and the US National Chamber of Commerce, among others. Tom currently serves as Chairman to two holding companies, spanning printing, agriculture, retail, and aquaculture.

Tom received his MBA from Harvard Business School. He currently lives between California and New Zealand. He enjoys hiking, collecting antique cars, and supporting philanthropic causes within environment, conservation, and healthcare.
